When your body cells use oxygen, they produce damaging molecules called free radicals. Antioxidants help eliminate free radicals and repair damaged cells. While most experts agree that taking antioxidants alone is not a shortcut to good health or the answer to staying young, studies have linked diets consisting of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables to a lower risk of cancer, strokes and cataracts. That’s what prompted two East Coast-based cancer survivors to launch Antioxinabox, a company dedicated to finding and delivering the highest-grade antioxidant-rich superfoods. Antioxinabox offers a wide variety of treats – from Belgian dark chocolates and raspberry-rhubarb spread to dried Michigan cherries and hand-woven green teas. Pre-filled gift boxes, ranging in price between $22 and $195, are given distinct names to identify the level of antioxidant content and come with a reference guide that details the foods. Most products can be purchased individually. Custom gift boxes are also available.

The company also offers its RejuvaHeal Antioxidant Spa Collection, which includes signature eye, face, foot and body creams containing multiple antioxidant-rich ingredients, such as olive and grape-seed oils. Spa products cost between $5 and $28. The company hosts the AntiOX Forum. Members posting to the forum receive points they can use to make Antioxinabox purchases. “We want to encourage people to share research . . . and be aware of the potential benefits of antioxidants,” says a company spokesperson. Antioxinabox is sold only through the website, but should be available at specialty gift boutiques soon: antioxinabox.com BB
